Elizabeth Parker

April 22, 1948 — November 14, 2021

Elizabeth Ann (Colburn) Parker, 73, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Dallas Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was born on April 22, 1948 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to John and Jimmie Nell Stines Colburn.

Elizabeth grew up in Arlington, Texas. Her family moved to Texas from Alabama when she was just three years old, along with her brother Wayne who was two years old. After coming to Texas her parents welcomed five more children.  Elizabeth was a busy young girl helping to care for her siblings while both of her parents worked, and they attended school. She began work for Pal’s in Arlington as a carhop on roller skates where she worked for a short while until she became a mother and homemaker. Later on, when her children were all in school she worked at Acme Machine Shop in Grand Prairie where she met many lifelong friends. She worked there for about 6 years until they closed operations. After that, she was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She loved her children with the most selfless and unconditional love possible, if we ever needed anything she made sure we had it.  If we were in trouble, she was there to lend an ear or a roof over our head. She never hesitated to help, ever. She not only raised her own children but many of her grandchildren whenever needed. She loved taking care of her family, home and her many houseplants.   She enjoyed visiting her family and friends and staying in touch.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, John & Jimmie Nell Colburn; siblings, Juanita Flood, Brenda Baugas, Garry Colburn, Frank Colburn; and her son John C. “Chuck” Rogers.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Lisa A. Angell of Cedar Hill, Texas; son, Billy W. Rogers & fiancé Cheryl Belew of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, L. Wayne (Jackie) Colburn of Arlington, Texas and Jerry G. Colburn of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Landra, Jennifer, Billy, Bryttani, Brandon S. and Brandon J; great-grandchildren, Cyerra, Kohner, Rylee, Jacob Jax, Luca; and nieces Tonya, Amy, Angie, Alexis and nephews Kenny, Colby, Curt, Frank and Dakota.

A funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home (500 Kennedale Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas 76060) at 2:00pm on Friday, November 19, 2021 with interment to follow at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale. The family will receive friends for visitation at Emerald Hills Funeral Home on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 6:00-8:00PM.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mike & Tracy McLallen, Tonya Cabal and Cheryl Belew they have helped us tremendously in getting through this difficult time, without them by our side this would have been much too hard to bear.  Also, our gratitude to everyone who have called, or sent messages to us as well. Emerald Hills Funeral Home for making this process a bit easier and so helpful with the many questions we’ve had.

My mother was such a loving person, any person that ever came across her path will tell you how awesome she was, always willing to help with anything, if she could, she did. If friends or family needed food or clothing, she tried to make sure they got what they needed. If we had a problem, she did her best to help us find a solution. She was always there, could always be counted on, every moment of her life she lived for her family.

Revelation 21:4 - He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
