Glenda Dalby

Glenda Joy Dalby born in Southmaid Texas on October 11, 1932 left this earthly home for her heavenly home in the early hours of Sunday January 09, 2022.  We can only imagine the celebration there must have been as she was welcomed home by her Savior, her husband, parents and the  brothers, sisters and grandchildren who preceded her.

Her parents, Ruby and Trude Carney named Glenda Joy well. Most people called her Joy and that is what she brought to all who knew her.  There was always a smile on her face and a kind word for others. She radiated joy! She had 3 brothers and 6 sisters. They were a musical family and loved singing gospel songs in harmony together.  Joy and her sisters spent some time singing on the local radio station.

Joy was married to Richard M. Dalby who preceded her in death. She was the proud mother of Ronnie Clayton, Garry Clayton, Ricky Dalby and Jeanean Dalby.  She was a homemaker in her younger years. Once her children were grown she went to work in retail. She worked at Park Plaza Dry Cleaners and quickly became store manager. Once retired Joy loved playing bingo with her son or her sister. She was a fierce competitor and could play a table full of cards at one time! She also enjoyed watching westerns.

Joy was a devout born again Christian. She was proud to be a Baptist and was a servant for the Lord. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she taught children and sang in the choir. In her later years you would find her and her husband Richard watching Jimmy Swaggert every Sunday. Joy was always there to help anyone who needed it. She was a prayer warrior and would call each one of her children and grandchildren out in prayer each day.

Glenda Joy is survived by her children, Ronnie Clayton of Arlington, Garry Clayton from Wills Point, Jeanean Dalby from Arlington and Ricky Dalby from Arlington. She will be missed by her sisters, her 9 grandchildren , 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Words cannot express how proud we are of our mom and how much she will be missed. But, we take comfort in knowing that she is in Heaven celebrating with those who have gone before and that we will see her again someday.
