Harriet Muise

Harriett Lou Ella Muise, 87, passed away on September 2nd, 2021at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington TX. She was born on August 12th, 1934 in Bristol, VA to Jesse James and Edna Chloe (Wheeler) Grogan.

Known to many as ‘Mickey’, and to almost all as ‘Nana’, Harriet spent her early years in Bristol, Tennessee as well as Baltimore, Maryland. She spoke often of her childhood, and the trouble she would get into with her younger sister Kay. As a youth, she enjoyed dancing and singing in the choir. Harriet married Richard Muise in 1955 in Fort Lauderdale, FL on Christmas Eve. They were happily married for 26 years, having lived in Waltham, MA, Chelmsford, MA, Riverton, WY, and Pawtucket, RI and raising their four children together. Harriet was the owner of the Open Door Christian Book Store in Riverton, WY. She then went on to own Bara Answering Service in Riverton.

Harriet moved to Arlington, Texas in 1991 to be closer to her family. She enjoyed traveling, having been all over the world from Bermuda to Greece, and frequently travelled all over the country to visit friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards and games, singing, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was known for her fiery Irish temperament, her ‘rose colored’ view of the world, her warm and welcoming personality, and her profoundly deep love of her lord and savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Faith Assembly Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse James Grogan and Edna Chloe Young, husband Richard

Muise, sister Carolyn Kay Boone, daughter Lynda Muise Schmidt, and grandson Bryson Richard Muise.

Harriet is survived by son Paul Muise (Leasa), daughter Cyndi Sauer (Ian), daughter Brenda Tanner, grandchildren Amy McGehee (Michael), Brandon Muise, Lucas Connell (Lori-Anne), Barry Muise, Nickiey Muise, Ryan Schmidt (Lexy), Jaime Tanner, Bryant Tanner (Courtney), great-grandchildren Charley McGehee (17), Rease Smithy (15), Lucy McGehee (12), Hamilton Schmidt (7), Kieran Cole (6), Maverick Tanner (6), Declan Connell (4), and Morty Tanner (4), and many, many family friends and relatives.

A visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, TX 76060 at 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Friday, September 10th. A memorial service will be held at Faith Assembly of God, 5100 U.S. 287 Frontage Rd, Arlington, TX 76017 at 11:00am on Saturday, September 11th. Burial will follow at Emerald Hills.
