James Hamrick

May 5, 1939 — June 28, 2021

James Donald Hamrick, 82, passed away on the 28th day of June 2021 at Methodist Dallas hospital in Dallas, TX.  Don was born on May 4th, 1939 in Ft. Worth, TX to N.V. and L.V. Hamrick.

Don grew up in Kennedale, TX. Where he attended High School.

He was a tinner by trade designing and creating much of the ornate Cornish throughout downtown Ft. Worth including Sundance Square. Don designed and installed the metal work over the entrance of the historic Knights of Pythias building on Main Street. When Don was hired to install the roof at the Casa Manana Performing Arts Theatre, he informed the architect that the design was flawed.  He was instructed to proceed with the installation as they were the architects not him. Within a short time, he received a call asking him to redesign the roof as it was leaking.  It turns out he was correct about the flaw. He was employed by Lydick Roofing Co. and Gunn and Briggs until his retirement in 1995.

Don was a member of the church of Christ in Kennedale where he served as a deacon for several years.

Don married the love of his life, Bon Sharon Hamrick in 1956, in Weatherford, TX.  They were married for 65 years.

Don was a cowboy at heart, loved horses and rodeos.  He always wore boots, a Cowboy hat, western shirts and jeans.  He loved all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: N.V. and L.V. Hamrick.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bon Sharon Hamrick of Kennedale, TX, his children: David Hamrick and wife (Rhonda) of Grandview, TX, Scott Hamrick and his wife (Ginger) of Kennedale, TX, Janna Hamrick of Kennedale, TX, Dyrel Hamrick and his wife (Gina) of Arlington, TX,; his brothers and sisters, Carolyn Hamrick of Merkel, TX, Wanda Hamrick of Tye, TX, Norma Davis of Kennedale, TX, Terry Hamrick of Rio Vista, TX, Johnny Hamrick of Tuscola, TX; his 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
