James Turner

James Turner of Joshua, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the age of 88.  James entered into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ and is now seeing sites we can only image and is surrounded by loved ones.  James was born on May 15, 1931 in Elgin Texas to Euell Turner and Ruby Nance Turner.

James joined the Army in October 1952.  After completing a tour of duty in Korea, James was honorably discharged as a Corporal in August 1954.  He returned home to Elgin and eventually moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he began working for John Manville.  He retired from Trinity Forge after working approximately 28 years starting as a Machinist and ending his career there as the Shipping and Receiving Clerk.

In November 1959 he married Josephine Elizabeth (JoBeth) Moore and had two children.  JoBeth passed away, January 21 1995.  James married Irene Carpenter on September 23, 2000.

He was known as the second fastest boy on the school yard in Pleasant Grove according to his childhood friend, Sammey.  He loved telling stories about his childhood and growing up on the family farm.  He was a master gardener, and loved building things and being around his children and grandchildren.  He would do anything for his family, you only had to ask and it would be done.  He was a member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Euell and Ruby Turner, sister Ruby Nell Bowen and daughter Kelli Lynn Turner.

Those left to cherish his memories are wife, Irene Turner; sons James E. Turner and wife Elsie, John Turner and daughter Judith Mosely and husband Dan; grandchildren, Travis Bowles, Andra Duplaisir and husband Danny, Joshua Turner, Clay Akins, Brittany Smallwood Crawford and husband Zack, Grant and Ethan Holybee, Marc Campbell, Daniel and wife Robin, Wyatt, Morgan and Maverick Mosely; six great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Markert, Lenabell Ging, brother William Turner and many other family members and friends.

There will be a visitation at Emerald Hills Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, 2020 from 12:00PM – 5:00PM with a maximum of ten individuals in the chapel at a time following the current social distancing guidelines.

A private family service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Kennedale, Texas on Friday, April 24, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make a memorial contribution in James’ memory to New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church, 628 Cordes Drive, Venus TX 76084 or The Warm Place, 809 Lipscomb St., Fort Worth TX 76104.
