Johnny Park

Arlington

Johnny (John) Glen Park, 80, passed away on Sunday May 9, 2021 at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth. He was born on January 27, 1941 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Glen Olaf Park and Mary Hazel Terry Park.

John grew up on a farm in Okolona, Arkansas. He attended schools in Okolona. After high school he joined the Army in 1963 and served for 6 years. He served in the Vietnam War 1968-1969 and was stationed in Saigon in the bunker Dirk Vietnam. He was the recipient of numerous medals and awards. He was honorably discharged in 1969 achieving the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant. John was a self employed custom pool builder in the DFW area for 50 years then began truck driving as an owner/operator for several years before retiring.

The family is going to dearly miss John, lovingly referred to as Dad or Papaw, and his nonchalant, easy going attitude. His powerful laugh was infectious. Everything he did, he did with the kindness of his heart. He was never boastful or prideful about any of his many accomplishments.

John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bobby Lee Park.

John is survived by his son, Michael (Melanie) Park of Canton; daughter Sandol (Jeff) Brocato of Arlington; sister Linda (Jack) Thrasher of Coppell; Jeanine Park (sister-in-law) of Saginaw; grandson Dylan Park and granddaughter Katie Park (Jeremy Brunner) of Canton; great-granddaughter Alivia Brunner of Canton; Georgia Jones Park (former spouse/care giver) of Arlington; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A gravesite memorial service will be held at the cemetery of Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Sublett Kennedale, TX on Wednesday, May 26 at 11:00AM with Pastor Nathan Tucker officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Wounded Warriors and Vietnam Veterans of America.
