Obituary

Joseph Michael Cook, 64, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, TX. He was born on May 9, 1958 in Pasadena, TX to Harry and Mary (Kirby) Cook.

Joe grew up in the Houston, TX area. He graduated from Bellaire High School in Bellaire, TX in 1976.

After high school he attended college at The University of Houston in Houston, TX. He began work in the telecommunications industry in the early 1980s as an engineer/technician for various firms for over 40 years. Joe was involved in Grand Prairie Boys Baseball, Inc. serving as Treasurer, Vice President and other leadership roles for 25 years.

Joe married Maureen in 1982 in Houston, TX. They were happily married for 40 years. Joe was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi in college and on the Board for Grand Prairie Boys Baseball, Inc. for 25 years. He enjoyed baseball, coaching, playing the drums, teaching his grandchildren to swim, traveling, and collecting coins, a passion passed down from his father. 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mary Cook.

Joe is survived by his spouse Maureen; his son Christopher Cook; his daughter and her husband, Courtney and Abran Chavera; his son Corey Cook; his grandchildren Alicia, Dylan, Alayna, Kyleigh, Adan, and Cayden; his brothers and sisters Sandra Bell and husband Steve, Mary Cook, Nancy Frank and husband John, Vincent Cook and wife Annette, and Steve Cook and wife Fran; and his nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Christian Church 6450 TX-360 Grand Prairie, 75052 at 11:00am on Friday, May 27, 2022. A visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home (500 Kennedale Sublet Road, Kennedale, TX 76060) on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 6:00-8:00PM  His cremains will be buried privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Grand Prairie Boys Baseball, Inc. on their Facebook page.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to family, friends and our church family for all of their support during this difficult time.
