Margaret Bischak

January 9, 1933 — October 26, 2020

Kennedale

Margaret Thelma Bischak, age 87, passed away on October 26, 2020.  She was born on January 9, 1933 to Joseph Dusky and Helen Boil, living in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

Margaret and her brother, Michael, were put in to foster care at a young age.  Michael then passed away soon after from appendicitis.  Margaret had a very unhappy and difficult young life, which only made her a stronger, incredibly determined, and independent young woman who did things her way on her terms, including marrying William Spolar at age 17.

Margaret eventually moved to a 32-acre farm with her four children, Kathy, Linda, Mark, and Beth.  She worked as a Veterinarian Technician at the Beaver Valley Animal Shelter.  She would often bring home unwanted animals to live on the farm.

Common animals such as dogs and cats, and uncommon animals such as racoons, flying squirrels, and even an owl that took up residence in a bathroom on a set of cow-horns.  Margaret taught her children how to care for animals, owning horses, cows, rabbits, chickens, and more.  She also taught her children how to plant vegetables and care for the garden.

Margaret had a great love for dogs.  She would train and show many of them in obedience.  She even worked with a Duquesne city Canine Police Department training her German Shepherd dog “Jubel” in Search and Rescue, attending many searches, and assisting as needed.

While in her 40’s Margaret developed Parkinson making it difficult to move around but that did not stop her from attending dance and karate classes.  She titled through the brown belt level in karate and was one bout away from black bet when she stopped for safety reasons.  If you knew Margaret you know how mad that made her, as she was a highly active lady.

Once she moved to Texas to live with Kathy and Richard Mathis she continued to be outside playing with her many Yorkies, her Border Collie Levi, working in her flower gardens and always enjoying her visits with Arianna and Madi, her great-great grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her four children, Kathy Mathis (Richard Mathis), Linda Spolar, Mark Spolar (Mary Kay Spolar), and Beth Spolar; grandchildren, Michael Evans, Eric Evans (Kelly Evans), Jonathon Scarfo, Jessie Scarfo, and David Spolar; and many great and great-great grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Pecan Manor Nursing Home and Rehab Center of Kennedale, Texas for their care, love, and support of Margaret during her final years.  Christy will have your ginger-ales I borrowed from your office refrigerator waiting for you when we meet again!”
