Maryna Hattingh

Maryna Elizabeth Hattingh (also known as Bettie), 83 passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 at her home, in Denton, Texas. She was born on October 9th, 1938 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa to William John Naude and Maryna Fouche.

Maryna grew up in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. She graduated from Scottsville High School in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. After high school she began work as a telephone operator and then later joined Natal Provincial Administration in medical records where she worked and retired after 24 years. She was also very involved in her church and her family’s activities.

Maryna married Coenraad Hattingh in 1959 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. They were happily married for 62 years. Maryna was a member of the Old Apostolic church. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, walking, being involved in her church and her children’s sports.

Maryna was preceded in death by her parents, William Naude and Maryna Naude and daughter, Lizelle Amanda Hattingh.

Maryna is survived by her spouse, Coenraad Hattingh of Denton, Texas; sons, Anton Hattingh and wife Susan Hattingh, Pieter Hattingh and wife Tammy Hattingh and Marius Hattingh; grandchildren, Lizelle Uptain, Bianca Lowe, Wikus Hattingh, Trent Hattingh, Leon Hattingh, Neleah Hattingh, Brooke Tirman and Brittany Huckaby; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at The Downtowner Suites & Event Center, 725 N Elm Street, Denton, Texas 76201 on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 2:00PM. Cremation will follow at Emerald Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Coenraad Hattingh, 4213 Sweetgum Drive, Denton, Texas 76208.
