Rene Journey Lewis, 72, passed away on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022, at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, TX. She was born on September 5th, 1949, in Broken Arrow, OK to James Hugh and Rene (Deaver) Journey.

Rene grew up in Fort Worth, TX. She moved to Shreveport, LA at the age of nine, where she later graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1967. After high school, she worked in various areas ranging from - working for a talent agency in Hollywood, CA to starting her own craft company called Renie’s Raggies. She also spent many years as a casting director and retired in June 2021 as a customer service representative.

Rene enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially loved giving gifts, doing crafts, and playing games with her grandkids. Taking long weekend trips to see her brother, Jerry, in Waskom, TX is something she treasured very much. She and her sister, Jan, were frequently found indulging in long conversations about every aspect of their lives. Rene also had the blessing of getting to live near her sister, Jill, for so many years. She had a heart for adventure and loved making people feel special. Rene loved the excitement around holidays - especially decorating and cooking. Rene is known for having a coke in her hand and a quick wit on her lips. She will forever be remembered by her very sweet demeanor and spirit.

Rene was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, James (Jimmy) Journey Jr. and Jennifer Journey; and daughter-in-law, Lindsay Lewis.

Rene is survived by her son, Chris Lewis and wife Angela; son, Gabe Lewis and wife Lindsey; her grandchildren, Isabella, Brody, Presley, Cash, Aliceanne, Lorelei, Boston and Dakota; her siblings, Jan Harben and husband Ernest, Jill Turnage and husband Richard, Jerry Journey and wife Pam; and her many nieces.

A funeral service will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd, Kennedale, TX 76060 at 2:00p on Wednesday, April 27th. Burial will follow at Emerald Hills Memorial Park.
