Robert L. Woodert Jr. was born on January 31, 1937 to the parentage of Robert and Deliah Woodert. Robert was preceded in death by his mother Deliah Woodert; Father Robert Woodert Sr.; and son Winifred Woodert; sister Neomi Woodert Thompson, James C. Woodert Sr. At an early age, Robert united with Baker Chapel Church of Christ in Dallas, Texas. Later he united with Carter Metropolitan Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

Education began at N.W. Harlee Elementary School in Dallas, Tx. Robert graduated from Lincoln High School at Dallas, Texas. Mr. Woodert furthered his education at Bishop College receiving his bachelor’s degree in 1960. After receiving his bachelor’s degree he was drafted in the Army of the United States and honorably discharged in 1966. In 1976 Mr. Woodert received a master’s in criminology Certificate in Corrections from Sam Houston University in Hunville, Tx.

Mr. Woodert began his career with Dallas County Boys Home as director and athletic coach for African American incarcerated youth from 10 years old to 17 years old. To further his career, Mr. Woodert moved from Dallas to Fort Worth to begin his employment with Tarrant County Juvenile Services. Mr. Woodert served in many positions while at TCJ’s including Status Offender Supervisor, Court Intake Officer, and Inactive Caseload Officer. Mr. Woodert retired from Tarrant County Juvenile Services March 31, 2000 as a certified professional probation officer.

To cherish precious memories, he leaves his devoted wife Odessa; daughter Tonya; granddaughter “Jazz”; grandson Tyler; grandson Chase, great grandsons Mason & Conrad; great granddaughters Maya, Zoie & Luna. Along with host of nephews, nieces, cousins, many loyal friends and devoted co-workers.
