Rose Maiorana

June 25, 1923 — April 1, 2021

Arlington

Rose Marie Maiorana, 97, passed away on April 1, 2021 at her home in Arlington, Texas, surrounded by family. She was born on June 25, 1923 in Stamford, Connecticut to Rosario and Mary Fino Congelosi.

Rose grew up in Stamford, Connecticut where she graduated from Stamford High School in 1941. After high school, she briefly worked at Condé Nast where her father and sister, Virginia, worked. She left there to work on radar materials for Yale & Towne Manufacturing Company during World War II. Her coworkers referred to her as their own “Rosie the Riveter.” From there, she went to work for W.T. Grant & Company and Miles Shoe Store as a sales associate meeting several new friends along the way including the sailors that she loved telling stories about. Rose then found a job she really enjoyed through Walden Book Company where she worked for 15 years before retiring. She was the life of the party at the company Halloween and Christmas parties singing and always dressed to impress. She then retired and moved to Texas in 1974 to be closer to her daughter. During her retirement years, she continued working at a Mother’s Day out, in-home daycare and doing store demos on the weekends so she could socialize with the customers.

Rose loved life by entertaining friends and family with her singing and dancing, going shopping for all the accessories she loved, and talking to friends over a cup of coffee. She enjoyed playing card games like Red Dog, Pokeno, and Briscola, an Italian card game, with her mother, father, husband, Andrew and other family members. Her passion in life was her family and making memories with them. She was always a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved family and togetherness. She was well into her 90’s walking around Walmart daily to get her exercise in and to socialize, stopping for her cup of coffee afterwards. She also enjoyed day trips every now and then to WinStar.

Rose was previously married to Michael Trehubenko of Stamford, Connecticut.  They welcomed their daughter, Barbara, during their marriage. She later married Andrew Maiorana of Brooklyn, New York, on February 14, 1970 and they were happily married for 18 years before his passing in 1988.

She was involved in the Women’s Guild at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a member of the church for 44 years.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Rosario and Mary; sisters, Virginia and Frances; and brothers Joe and Jimmy.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Barbara and her husband Augustine (Butch) Costanzo of Arlington, Texas; her grandchildren Tina and her husband Chris Bullock, Augustine III and his wife Amanda Costanzo, Tiffany and her husband Warren Costanzo, Lori Costanzo; her great-grandchildren Austin, Amberlyn, Carson, Angelina, Aubreyann, Alexander, Lorelei; and her nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A visitation will be held at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale Sublett Rd., Kennedale, Texas 76060 from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021. A memorial service will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5816 W Pleasant Ridge Rd, Arlington, Texas 76016 at 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 with a graveside service following at Emerald Hills Memorial Park.
