Obituary

Sandra Louise Workman (Marlar), of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at the age of 80.  Loving wife of the late Kermit R Workman Jr; beloved daughter of the late AJ and Alvis Marlar; devoted mother of Tamara (William) Burkard, Treasa Turnbeaugh, and Tara (Brian) VanBibber; cherished grandmother of Lexi (Zack) Watson, Nicholas Turnbeaugh, Anthony Turnbeaugh, Rayna Burkard, Katelyn Turnbeaugh and Kayla VanBibber; dear sister of Freddie (Sharon) Marlar, the late Yvonne Marlar and the late Austin Marlar.

Sandra worked as Human Resources Manager for Borg Warner and retired as Executive Vice President of Human Resources for Computer Sales International.  Not satisfied to be idle in retirement, she applied her business savvy and gift of encouragement to self-employment. She opened, owned, and operated a Curves Exercise Franchise for Women in Troy, Missouri.

While attending Arlington High School, she was a member of the National Honor Society and the cheerleading squad.  She cherished the memory of running Little Arley, the schools live Shetland Pony mascot, around the football track. But she didn’t love chasing Tamara and Treasa’s Shetland Pone, Ralph around the pasture.

She was a strong, loving working mom who modeled work-life balance.  She was strong in her faith, respected at work, and loved by countless friends and family. She was an endless supply of inspiration, serving as encourager, supporter, coach, mentor, and loving Mom to her daughters, their friends, their spouses, and their children. She had a way of making each one feel special and loved.

In her free time, she enjoyed her Rising Women Bible Study Group; the Red Hat ladies; playing Bunco, Spades, and Nertz with friends; reading; traveling, and antique shopping.

Sandra was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Sandra’s name to Wounded Warriors Project.
