Tambra Gean Allen, 63, cherished mother and grandmother, passed away on May 28th, 2025 at Burleson Nursing and Rehabilitation in Burleson, Texas. She was born on June 2nd, 1961 in Fort Worth, Texas to Alfred and Margaret (Kerns) Crane.
Tambra grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from O.D.Wyatt High School in 1979, where she participated in choir and JROTC, achieving the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Colonel.
In 1987, she joined the United States Army and served for 7 years. She was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, El Paso, Texas, and on Johnston Atoll and was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, W/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal (2D Award), National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 2, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle, and the Army Lapel Button. She was discharged with honors in 1994, after working as a 89B Ammunition Specialist, achieving the rank of Specialist 4.
She attended college at Erie Community College in Williamsville, New York where she received an associate degree in nursing. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. She started her graduate studies at Grand Canyon University, focusing on education. She was only one semester away from finishing her master’s.
Tambra worked for Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas as a nurse. In this role, she discovered a passion for teaching and ultimately became a nurse educator. She worked for Plaza Medical Center for 14 years.
Tambra enjoyed going out with her friends and dancing. She loved to laugh and have fun, and she was well-known for her radiant smile. She loved to read and to learn. She had a heart for service and would go out of her way to help others. She was a devoted mother who would do anything for her children, making sacrifices so they would never have to go without. The home she created for her children, family, and friends was warm, welcoming, and full of joy.
Tambra was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Crane; her brother Paul Ray Crane; and her sisters-in-law Naomi Crane and Kim Crane.
Tambra is survived by her children Joshua (Amanda) Norvelle of College Station, Texas, Kathryn Norvelle of Joshua, Texas, and Caleb Allen of Burleson, Texas; her siblings Alfred (Alisha) Crane III of Burleson, Texas, David (Donna) Crane of Gainesville, Texas, Rena (Fred) Hutton of Gainesville, Texas, and Daniel Crane of Texarkana, Texas; her grandchildren Alyvia Norvelle, Conrad Norvelle, and Taylen Roberts; and her many nieces, nephews, and other beloved relatives.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4th from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Emerald Hills Funeral Home, 500 Kennedale-Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas. The memorial service will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5th.
The family requests that those in attendance wear colorful clothing instead of traditional mourning dress. Tambra was vibrant and would have loved to see a rainbow of color.
